Samuel “Sam” Nelson of Seattle, Washington has been involved with Special Olympics for ten years, competing in swimming as well as Unified basketball, soccer, and flag football. Sports have given him opportunities to stay active, build friendships, and develop leadership skills within his team. Sam volunteers with several organizations in Seattle, including the Seattle Aquarium and local food banks, and enjoys making music and writing songs. He is preparing for competition by swimming regularly and looks forward to traveling, meeting new athletes, and competing at a national level.
